This is a working draft
It describes, as accurately as we can, how our service actually works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor. By booking a trial or purchasing a plan, you agree to these terms — if anything here is unclear, contact us before booking.
Who we are
Minds in Tutoring provides online 1-to-1 academic tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students, delivered by our tutors over video call. These terms apply to anyone who books a trial, purchases a session or bundle, or otherwise uses our website or student/tutor portals.
Booking a trial
£20 refundable deposit
A £20 deposit is required to secure your free trial session. This deposit is fully refunded automatically once you attend your session — it exists only to make sure a tutor's time isn't held for a slot that goes unused.
If you don't attend
If you do not attend your trial session and give no prior notice, the £20 deposit is not refunded. If you need to reschedule, please give at least 12 hours notice and we'll move it at no extra cost.
No obligation to continue
The trial is a no-obligation introduction to a tutor. Whether or not you continue with paid sessions afterwards is entirely your choice.
Purchasing sessions and bundles
How pricing works
You can purchase a single session, or a 4- or 8-session monthly bundle, as a one-off purchase or a recurring monthly subscription. Current prices are shown on our Pricing page at the time of purchase.
Payment processing
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
Subscriptions
A subscription bundle renews automatically each month and grants a fresh set of session credits for that period. You can cancel a subscription at any time before the next billing date to stop future renewals; sessions already paid for are not affected.
Switching plans
You're free to purchase whichever plan suits you best, whenever you like — there's no lock-in tying you to a single tier.
Cancellations, rescheduling and no-shows
Minimum 12 hours notice
Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with at least 12 hours notice keep their session credit, which is applied to your next booking. Cancellations with less than 12 hours notice, or a no-show with no prior communication, may result in the session credit being forfeited.
Full details, including what happens if your tutor needs to cancel, are set out in our Booking & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Tutor matching and quality
Finding the right fit
We match you with a tutor based on subject, level and goals. If a tutor isn't the right fit after your trial, let us know and we'll arrange a rematch at no charge.
What we don't guarantee
We work to support meaningful academic progress, but we can't guarantee specific grades or outcomes — results depend on many factors outside our tutors' control, including a student's own engagement and effort.
Acceptable use
On-platform communication
Messages between students and tutors go through our messaging system, which is monitored for safeguarding. Please don't share personal contact details (phone numbers, social media, email) with a tutor or student through the platform.
Respectful conduct
We expect students, parents and tutors to treat each other with respect. We reserve the right to suspend or end an account for abusive, unsafe or fraudulent behaviour.
Session recordings
Some sessions may be recorded for review or safeguarding purposes, where our systems support it. Recordings are stored securely and are not shared outside what's needed to deliver or review your tutoring.
Liability
We aim to provide a reliable service, but as with any online platform, we can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free (for example, due to internet connectivity issues on either side of a video call). Where something goes wrong on our end — a tutor no-show, a technical failure that costs you a session — we'll put it right with a credit or rebooking as set out in our Booking & Cancellation Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as our service evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continuing to use Minds in Tutoring after an update means you accept the revised terms.
